The Kosciuszko Foundation Becomes the Eighth Sponsoring Organization
of the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union (PSFCU)

During the meeting which took place on February 15th, 2012 the Board of Directors of the Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union approved the Kosciuszko Foundation as the eighth sponsoring organization of our Credit Union.
The Foundation joined the group of sponsoring organizations consisting of the Polish & Slavic Center, the Polish Cultural Foundation, the Polonia of Long Island, the Polish Supplementary School Council of America, the General Pulaski Memorial Parade Committee, as well as the Alliance of Polish Clubs in America and the Polish Highlanders Alliance of North America from the Chicago area.

The Kosciuszko Foundation founded in 1925 is dedicated to the expanding of relationships between Poland and the United States through various programs and educational as well as cultural exchanges between the two countries.  The Foundation assigns around 1 million dollars for scholarships and donations every year.  Polish and American students, scientists and artists benefit from the Foundation’s generosity - the Foundation also strongly supports and promotes Polish culture and heritage in America.
The “Kosciuszko Foundation became our eighth sponsoring organization during the year when we celebrate the 35th anniversary of our Credit Union” -  says Mr. Oskar Mielczarek, President and Chief Executive Officer of the PSFCU – “It is a very good year to  begin our relationship. The immigrants who are our primary members, created our Credit Union when other financial institutions refused to extend credit to them and did not allow them to deposit their hard earned savings in the local banks. Our Credit Union made it possible. Now, after 35 years in business we are a vital financial institution that serves 75,000 members. The Kosciuszko Foundation, on the other hand, is a cultural and educational institution which maintains a presence in the important cultural centers of the US. We provide financial products and services - the Foundation will help us to reach those members who are not yet familiar with our Credit Union, especially the young scholarship recipients of the Foundation, a so called “New Generation”, utilizing modern technology and social networks for their everyday needs, including banking.”

"The Credit Union and the Kosciuszko Foundation have worked for decades to serve Polonia “ – said Alex Storozynski, the Kosciuszko Foundation’s President and Executive Director – “Kosciuszko wrote that we are all equal, and that wealth and education are the only difference -- some have more of it than others. Well, for decades the PSFCU has been working to enrich Polonia, and the Kosciuszko Foundation has been working to provide educational scholarships. These are two important missions, and together we will work to make Polonia stronger."
