We have just been informed about an attempt to obtain members' personal information using text messages sent to cell phones of some PSFCU members. The message warns about pending alert on the credit card account and instructs recipient to call a toll-free telephone number. After calling the provided telephone number, cardholders are asked to provide their credit card numbers, card expiration dates, Personal Identification Numbers (PIN) and Card Verification Value (CVV) codes.
We strongly encourage our members to exercise caution when receiving unsolicited text messages, e-mails or telephone calls from persons claiming to be PSFCU employees and asking for personal information stating dubious reasons. If for any reason you are uncertain of the authenticity of a received text message or e-mail, or the identity of a person contacting you by telephone, please do not provide any personal information and immediately contact the PSFCU Call Center at 1-800-297-2181.
